How to Get Started with Plunderstorm

If you play modern World of Warcraft, all you need to do is hit Play as usual:
Select Plunderstorm from the World of Warcraft game menu.
Create a new, ready-to-play character.
Choose between Solo or Duo.
To play with your Battle.net friends make a group from the Plunderstorm character screen and select Duo. If you queued for Duo without a partner, you’ll be automatically matched with one.

How to Play in Plunderstorm

The aim of the game is simple:

1. Kill creatures and enemies to level up and acquire spells and abilities
2. Spells are upgraded by looting more copies of them
3. You have a heal ability for when you have low health
4. To win, be the last one standing

Once you have created your character and selected either Solo or Duo queue you will zone in to Brew Bay. Here you can explore, experiment, and talk to the Renown NPC while you wait for 60 players to fill your group.

Once your group is full, a countdown will signal you to finish up whatever you are up to, and, disconcertingly, a cannon will land on your head.

The cannon shoots you into the sky where you find yourself on a parrot coming in for a crash landing. You can steer somewhat, and have a few seconds to plan your landing.

Then you are down and it’s game on. You are level 1, and you have no abilities on your bar beyond your basic attack and heal. And maybe one shot of an escape item. There are 60 of you and the last player standing is the winner! Go go go go go……

1. Run through plunder to loot it.
2. Click on chests and other objects to loot them.
3. Click on abilities that you find to add them to your interface bar.
4. Kill mobs, Elite mobs, and other players.
5. Loot, loot, loot.

Killing and looting earns you plunder, experience, and Renown.

While you could be sneaky and try to hide until the event is over, you will be thwarted by the Storm. The Storm slowly shrinks the playing field, forcing you and the other survivors together to battle it out.

When, pardon me, if you die, you are done. You will be told your place out of 60, and then you will be thrown into observer mode for another player in your group. You can watch them play, or leave the match and try again.

When you win, you will earn a few special bonuses to let everyone know that you are the pirate to beat:
The First Rate Mate buff
An eye patch
A tabard
These privileges last until you lose, so defend them well!

Squishei and Portergauge are honored first mates… until someone else takes the title!

Winning also grants you the Plunder Wonder Achievement in World of Warcraft, so you will remember your victory forever.

Note: World of Warcraft cosmetic versions of the Plunderlord’s Monocle and Plunderlord’s Tabard are available through the Renown track so you don’t have to win to be able to earn them in the real world.
